    • Harassment Recognition/Training for Board Members Do any of your states have, or are aware of, any training programs, courses, or other resources geared toward, or available to, commissioners/supervisors that cover the prevention of, response to, or recognition of harassment (sexual or otherwise)? Thanks!

    • Forestry in your state NASCA is interested to learn about forestry work our members are engaged in (any project or partnership, big and small). This feedback will help us in upcoming discussions with the Forest Service and other federal partners.

    • Conservation swag Does your state agency give away swag at conferences, meetings, or conventions? If you do, what items are conservation minded AND popular? Reusable straws? Rain gauges? What are your creative ideas?

    • Regional Coordinator Position Descriptions Oklahoma is seeking position descriptions for regional coordinators/district liaisons or similar positions. We anticipate that the job will be focused on a smaller subset of conservation districts (rather than individually or all) to provide better interaction between the local districts and the state agency. We are particularly interested in what other states have identified as job duties.

    • Gender neutral language for oaths I am working on changing the language of our oaths for the supervisors to be gender-neutral. Do you have any examples of affirmations or oaths once supervisors are elected or appointed to an office?

    • Advisory Councils In Montana, the Resource Conservation Advisory Council advises and assists the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation on all programs and activities relating to conservation entities. Does your state have a similar type entity that advises your conservation agency?

    • Disaster Preparedness Has anyone considered things conservation districts can do to prepare for disasters to ensure district operations can continue? Between fires, floods, tornadoes, pandemic, etc., it seems that districts must be able to handle their operations from temporary locations occasionally. So we want to create a guidance document with things the districts can do to help themselves in these situations. For example, scanning and backing up documents off site.

    • Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act The Idaho Soil & Water Conservation Commission would value any information related to accessing federal funds provided through IIJA to address conservation programs administered by state conservation agencies. Thanks!

    • ARPA Funds for State Conservation Agencies Hi All, As many of you know, states and local governments are in the process of allocating America Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Congress has allocated Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds that totals $350 billion to eligible state, local, territorial, and Tribal governments. Treasury on ARPA funds I am looking to see if any State Conservation Agencies are receiving funds as part of the State Allocation. Funds can be used for a variety of things related to Covid and Climate Change. We are looking at funds for Food Security/Climate Resiliency focusing on soil health, farm energy programs, and farm climate resiliency programs (water supply). Thanks, Denise Savageau, Chair CT Council on Soil and Water Conservation

    • District Employee Recruiting Our state has been experiencing unprecedented turnover of SWCD employees for over a year now. I am wondering to what extent your state agency is involved in helping districts to fill vacancies? Do you provide example job descriptions, announcements, assistance with advertising, sit on interview panels etc? I would greatly appreciate any examples that you can provide.

    • Food waste for livestock feed We are starting to see an increased interest in feeding food waste to livestock. Do any of you deal with this and do you have rules / guidelines on the feeding of source separated food waste to livestock?

    • Policy Advocacy Has your state conservation agency met with your state’s elected federal delegation (or staff) during the past year? If so, what issues were discussed, and what was the outcome of the dialogue?

    • Examples of CD Urban Forestry Efforts (sent on behalf of Laura Meyer, NASCA rep on the NACD Urban and Community RPG, and Ben Schram, NASCA rep on the NACD Forestry RPG) Have individual CDs or CDs at a regional level launched successful urban forestry work/projects in your state? NACD is collecting examples to share with partners at the US Forest Service who expressed interest in partnering with CDs to expand urban forestry projects. They’re seeking examples from all regions of the country, particularly from CDs leading these efforts that haven’t been featured previously by NACD (e.g., in their Forestry Notes publication) so we can build a broad portfolio of CD urban forestry work. If you know of examples to share, please reply with a short description and the associated CD/CDs names. If available, please also include links to existing project/program information and/or media coverage of the work. We’ll pass the examples on to folks at NACD. Thank you!

    • Agreements with NRCS The National Conservation Partnership is entering into discussions with USDA about a number of topics. Among them will be the effectiveness of administrative functions during the past several years, particularly since many of these functions have been transferred to the FPAC Business Center. Would each state agency provide a paragraph or two sharing your experiences in this arena? I would expect that the most serious impacts to your operations and to those of your districts would be associated with payments and contract execution. This is not meant by any means to be an indictment of NRCS or FPAC. We are simply trying to get a better feel for your experiences with USDA since the reorganization. Thank you for taking the time to respond, and please feel free to be candid.

    • Watershed Scale Monitoring of BMP Effectiveness Any NASCA members out there administering/leading or participating in any watershed scale monitoring of BMP effectiveness? If so, could you please let me know a bit more about the effort and who is the best contact at your agency for a follow up discussion? Thanks!

    • State Cost-Share Programs We have recently hired someone to coordinate our state cost-share program. She is interested in hearing from other states about their programs. Also, specifically if you offer cost share on any urban conservation practices she would love to hear about those. If you would please pass this on to your staff and ask them to reach out to Taylor Marshall at the Conservation Commission. Her email is: Taylor.Marshall@conservation.ok.gov Thank you, Lisa
