      Hello!

Many Districts in Colorado did not have the chance to hold their annual meeting prior to the shutdown. With restrictions showing no signs of letting up anytime soon, I’m wondering if there are any districts out there that have thought of ways to have an annual meeting while maintaining public health. (The only thing I’ve thought of is a standard Zoom call.) Thank you!

In Ohio are SWCD Supervisor elections are typically tied with Annual Meetings. Most have been cancelled and elections are being conducted by absentee voting. One of our districts has a virtual annual meeting planned in August. Another district is doing a drive thru dinner pick-up and allowing people to vote for the SWCD supervisor at this time. Another is planning a drive thru fish pick up event combined with SWCD supervisor voting. At this event they are also planning educational displays and information that can be viewed from a vehicle.

Supervisor elections in NC are part of the November general election ballot, so however voting is done for president, so shall it be for district supervisors. Since March most of the 96 districts in NC have been meeting virtually using Zoom, GoTo Meeting, Uber Conference, or regular teleconference (voice only). We are exploring hybrid and virtual options for our Association Area Meetings and State Meeting. We’ve tentatively made the decision to use Turning Technologies (https://www.turningtechnologies.com/) to enable real-time virtual voting on the Association’s policies and objectives and on candidates for Association Area and State Offices. We’ve used this technology for years as a training enhancer for in-person training, but now any smart phone or computer can be used as an input device from anywhere in the world.
