Each year, NASCA members are encouraged to nominate a state conservationist who has shown unparalleled service to the conservation partnership. Our members along with support from partner organizations describe the nominees outstanding ability to: collaborate with state agencies and partners, provide resources and training, tailor NRCS operations for their state, and prioritizing the landowner/operator.

For the first time in the history of this award, NASCA recognized two recipients for the 2018 Outstanding State Conservationist: Kurt Readus of Mississippi and Curtis Elke of Idaho. Because each of these individuals has done so much exemplary work for the partnership in their respective states, the NASCA Board of Directors elected to recognize both of these individuals. Congratulations to Kurt and Curtis!
