Many Conservation Districts in Colorado are not satisfied with their current partnerships with NRCS due to low staffing, burnt out staff, and changes in management approach. One District is considering shifting their primary partnership to another organization, in this case a Land Conservancy. They would use a similar structure to their NRCS partnership–sharing office space and administrative work. There are no examples in Colorado of Districts partnering with non-NRCS entities in this capacity.
- Do any Districts in your state have such partnerships?
- Can you share examples of MOUs or other written partnership agreements?
- Do you have advice for a District considering branching out?
Justin CaudillNot to the best of my knowledge, we do have CD that have purchased their own buildings with NRCS either moving in with the CD or not. But not partnering with someone other than NRCS for a place to do business.
Bill SmithNot to my knowledge in South Dakota
Kent ZimmermanNot that I’m aware of in Nebraska.
